10 Characters That Are Bound To Make You Smile When Onscreen

Updated: Feb 5, 2022

There are some characters that always manage to put a smile on your face when they're on screen. Whether it be they're charisma or comedy you always look forward to seeing them. They usually stick out like a sore thumb and are easily recognizable.

The list is in no particular order and will include anime and manga characters. Starting off the list we have-

1. Saitama (One Punch Man)

His appearance alone should explain why he's on this list. His character is simple but that's what makes him so likable. Saitama fits in perfectly with the whole superhero satire th story is trying to go for.

It's hilarious watching him be oblivious to the world and the reactions of the people around him. Watching him defeat terrifying opponents with one punch will forever be hilarious.

2. General Ouki (Kingdom)

Even though he's one of the greatest generals of his time it's always refreshing to see him on screen.

In battle, he's one of the most intimidating people. Outside of battle, he can be seen making inappropriate jokes the likes of which you wouldn't expect from a general. His charisma and overall aura make him a fan favorite among Kingdom fans.

3. Might Guy (Naruto)

I honestly don't know what to tell you if you don't like Might Guy. The Naruto cast is full of characters that will make you smile but Guy is one that stands out.

He has a wacky, flamboyant personality but has some of the best messages in the show. His ridiculous poses and high optimism makes him a joy to watch.

Even with his odd mannerisms, he's one of the strongest characters in the show and he'd do anything to protect the younger generation.

4. Onizuka (GTO)

Almost every time we see him he's in a ridiculous situation. Watching a delinquent teacher come up with different ways to teach unruly kids a lesson has to be one of the most entertaining things to watch.

It doesn't help that the exaggerated character facial expressions make things even funnier. Every time you see him on screen you know something amusing is going to happen. He also teaches his students and us many life lessons.

5. Thorkell (Vinland Saga)

He's always jolly, laughing and smiling as he cuts down his enemies. His interactions with Thorfinn are humorous. The only thing on his mind is fighting and war, leading to some of the funniest scenes when he's deprived of that.

He is honestly one of the things that brighten up the gruesome world of Vinland Saga. His energy and charisma are unmatched so this 7'6 giant gets a spot on the list.

6. Sakuragi (Slam Dunk)

He's pretty much the definition of a hothead. Watching him play basketball while knowing nothing about the sport is always exciting.

He is naive and simple minded with a soft spot for girls. Sakuragi displays a great deal of persistence and determination. He gains respect from the people around him and even us when he proves us wrong time and time again in his basketball games.

7. Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs)

Dazai is a detective obsessed with the idea of suicide. He's definitely one of the stand-out characters in his series with his cheerful personality. He's interesting because, behind his cheerful exterior, he has a dark side. Watching him interact with the cast and find different ways to kill himself is always enjoyable.

Even though he's used as comic relief most times he's also a great mentor. He's helped Atsushi become the person he is and he's helped many people around him.

8. Koro Sensei (Assassination Classroom)

His interesting appearance and unique personality are bound to make you smile. Despite his appearance, he's extremely caring.

He taught his students many life lessons in his brief time with them. He's upbeat and a bit of a pervert but you can look beyond that because he's so likable.

He would do anything to protect his students which is an admirable trait. His multiple color changes and personalities only add depth to his character.

9. Zoro And Sanji (One Piece)

I'm going to add these characters together because there dynamic is straight gold. The name calling, fighting, and their ongoing rivalry make them stand out when onscreen.

It makes it all the more worthwhile in the moments that they fight together. Their chemistry and memorable interactions secure them a spot on this list.

10. Koichi (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)

It's pretty hard not to love Koichi, he's adorable. He ends up getting taken advantage of often because of his naivety and innocence. It's amazing watching him develop as a character and become stronger as the story progresses.

Koichi is kind-hearted and he's even spared people who have tried to kill him. Characters are drawn to his amiable aura.
